NCT ID NCT07661368
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This pilot study will test whether teaching people aged 50 to 75 how to cook healthy meals can reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes and dementia. Forty participants at higher risk will either attend weekly cooking classes with at-home practice or receive nutrition handouts. The study focuses on improving cooking confidence and diet quality as a way to protect brain health.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, enjoyable way to reduce the risk of dementia and type 2 diabetes through better cooking habits.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 40 participants, so results may not apply widely. It tests a behavioral change, not a drug, so the effect may be modest.
