Could ultrasound replace radioactive tracers in cancer surgery?

NCT ID NCT07310758

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special ultrasound using a contrast agent (Sonazoid) can find the first lymph node where cancer might spread, called the sentinel node, as accurately as the current radioactive method. About 91 adults with melanoma, breast cancer, or head & neck cancer will take part. If successful, this could offer a safer, radiation-free option for sentinel node detection.
