Gentler surgery for cervical cancer shows promise, study halted early

NCT ID NCT01048853

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a less invasive surgery (called conservative surgery) could safely treat women with early-stage, low-risk cervical cancer. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce side effects and speed up recovery compared to standard, more extensive surgery. The study enrolled 137 women but was stopped early; however, the results help doctors understand how to better tailor treatment for this group.
