Gum surgery showdown: which stitch heals best?
NCT ID NCT05813236
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of stitches (NOVOSYN quick and MONOSYN quick) used in gum surgery to see if they heal equally well. About 84 adults having gum surgery will be randomly assigned one of the two stitches. The main goal is to check early healing signs like skin regrowth, bleeding control, and inflammation about 10 days after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NOVOSYN® quick and MONOSYN® quick suture materials
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that both suture materials work equally well for gum surgery, giving dentists more options for wound closure.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (84 people) comparing two similar products. The results may not apply to all gum surgeries or patients, and the difference in healing might be minimal.
