New catheter could speed up heart procedure
NCT ID NCT07563257
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two catheters used during a common heart procedure for atrial fibrillation. The goal is to see if one catheter can confirm that the treatment worked faster than the current method. Thirty adults with persistent atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter will be enrolled, and each will have both catheters tested during their procedure.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Two mapping catheters (Optrell and Octaray) used during atrial fibrillation ablation
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make atrial fibrillation ablation procedures faster and more efficient by reducing the need for extra mapping steps.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early observational study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. It compares tools already on the market, not a new treatment.
