Urine test showdown: could a simple sample replace needle biopsy for prostate cancer?
NCT ID NCT01441687
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two types of urine samples—expressed prostatic secretion (EPS) and post-massage urine (PMU)—to see which one better predicts whether a prostate biopsy will find cancer. About 243 men scheduled for a prostate biopsy will provide both samples, and researchers will check which test matches the biopsy results more accurately. The goal is to find a less invasive way to help decide who really needs a biopsy.
