NCT ID NCT07204301
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether small changes—like playing calming music, showing a relaxing video, or giving numbing gel at the right time—can reduce pain and anxiety during a bladder cancer exam or treatment. About 378 adults with bladder cancer will be randomly assigned to receive one or more of these comfort measures or standard care. They will fill out short questionnaires right after the procedure to rate their pain and anxiety.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- lidocaine gel, calming music, visual distraction
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward simple, low-cost ways to make bladder cancer procedures less stressful and painful for patients.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial testing comfort measures, not a treatment for cancer itself. The interventions may not significantly improve anxiety or pain compared to standard care.
