Researchers track rare colorectal cancer subtype to improve treatment decisions
NCT ID NCT05511688
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study follows 637 people with a specific type of colorectal cancer called microsatellite instability (MSI). The goal is to identify factors that predict how the cancer will behave and whether chemotherapy helps. By collecting clinical and molecular data, researchers hope to better guide treatment for both early and advanced stages of this cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors better predict which patients with this type of colorectal cancer need chemotherapy and which do not.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly provide new therapies. Results may take years and might not change practice immediately.
