Could a swallowable camera boost bowel cancer detection?

NCT ID NCT04049357

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tested whether a camera capsule (pill) could be used as a first step in bowel cancer screening to decide who needs a colonoscopy. Over 2,000 people from the Danish screening program took part. The goal was to see if this approach increases screening participation, finds more high-risk polyps or cancers, and reduces the need for colonoscopies and related complications.
