First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study will compare the Clubhouse Model—a structured, community-based program where members work together to run the clubhouse—to standard outpatient care for adults with schizophrenia. Researchers will measure changes in thinking, daily functioning, and brain activity using cognitive tests and MRI scans over six months. The goal is to understand if this social approach has unique benefits for the brain and real-world skills.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Clubhouse Model of Psychosocial Rehabilitation

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could show that the Clubhouse Model improves cognitive function and quality of life for people with schizophrenia, pointing toward a non-drug approach to support recovery.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study (30 people) that is not yet recruiting. It only measures changes over 6 months, so results may not apply broadly or prove long-term benefits.
