New device could free AF patients from lifelong blood thinners
NCT ID NCT06049615
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a device called CLAAS that closes a small pouch in the heart (left atrial appendage) to prevent strokes in people with atrial fibrillation. About 300 adults at high risk of stroke will get the device under conscious sedation (awake but relaxed). The goal is to see if the device is safe and works well, potentially allowing patients to stop long-term blood thinners.
