Brain pacemaker learns your sleep schedule to stop tremors better

NCT ID NCT06635811

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new way to use deep brain stimulation (DBS) for essential tremor. Normally, DBS runs all the time, which can cause side effects and make the treatment less effective over time. The researchers will program the device to automatically turn off when you are asleep, based on your brain's natural day-night signals. The goal is to see if this smart approach is safe, reduces side effects, and keeps tremor control strong. About 25 people who already have a DBS implant will take part.
