Scientists hunt for inherited cancer genes in kids
NCT ID NCT04471961
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looks at the DNA of 100 children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer, along with their parents, to find inherited genetic changes that may cause the disease. By comparing the child's tumor DNA and healthy DNA with both parents' DNA, researchers hope to uncover new cancer predisposition genes and identify potential targets for personalized treatments. The study does not test a new therapy but aims to improve understanding of why children develop cancer.
