Prehab may beat chemo brain: study tests exercise before treatment

NCT ID NCT07341217

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a prehabilitation (prehab) exercise program can reduce 'chemo brain'—memory loss, forgetfulness, and brain fog—in older adults (60-85) with colorectal cancer who are about to start chemotherapy. About 86 participants will either do the exercise program or receive usual care. Researchers will measure changes in brain activity, blood markers, and thinking skills to see if getting fit before chemo helps protect brain health.
