Chair time in ICU may boost recovery for ventilated patients

NCT ID NCT06973746

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether moving patients on breathing machines out of bed and into a chair helps them regain strength and function better than staying in bed. About 150 adults in the ICU will be randomly assigned to either chair sitting or bed rest. The goal is to see if chair positioning improves muscle recovery and mobility by the time they leave the ICU.
