Pacemaker upgrade could ease stiff heart failure

NCT ID NCT07598760

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This pilot study tests a special pacemaker-like device called Moderato Plus in 20 people with high blood pressure and a type of heart failure where the heart pumps normally but is too stiff (HFpEF). The device delivers Cardiac Neuromodulation Therapy to help control blood pressure and improve heart function during rest and exercise. Participants will be followed for up to 12 months to see if the therapy is feasible and safe.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Moderato Plus device with Cardiac Neuromodulation Therapy (CNT)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a new device-based treatment to improve heart function and blood pressure control in people with HFpEF.
What could go wrong
This is a very small pilot study with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The device is still experimental, and long-term benefits or risks are unknown.
