Summary

This is a long-term observational study that began in 1985 to understand how heart disease risk factors develop in young adulthood. It follows over 5,000 Black and White men and women who were 18-30 years old when they joined. The goal is to identify which lifestyle habits and changes during young adulthood influence future risks for heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
