Pepper-Based patch may ease chronic pelvic pain by resetting nerve sensitivity

NCT ID NCT07660510

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study investigates whether a high-concentration capsaicin patch can reduce chronic neuropathic pain in the pelvic and perineal region. Researchers will measure changes in pain sensitivity before and after treatment in 30 adults with long-lasting pelvic nerve pain. The goal is to see if the patch can desensitize overactive pain nerves in the treated area.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

high-concentration capsaicin patch

What this could lead to

If effective, this could offer a non-drug treatment option for chronic pelvic pain, potentially reducing reliance on pain medications.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply widely. Capsaicin patches can cause burning, redness, or temporary pain at the application site.
