Cannabis extract VER-01 put to the test for stubborn leg pain
NCT ID NCT06956014
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 3 trial tests whether a cannabis extract called VER-01 can reduce leg pain in people with chronic nerve root compression (sciatica-like pain) who haven't gotten enough relief from standard painkillers. About 810 participants will receive either VER-01 or a placebo for 12 weeks, and researchers will measure changes in pain intensity. The goal is to see if this cannabis-based medicine offers a safe and effective new option for chronic pain.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cannabis extract (VER-01) containing THC
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide a new pain relief option for people with chronic nerve-related leg pain who haven't found relief from standard painkillers.
What could go wrong
This is a late-stage trial, but cannabis-based treatments can cause side effects like dizziness or mood changes, and the placebo effect is strong in pain studies, so the real benefit may be modest.
