New breathing treatment could help ventilator patients recover faster
NCT ID NCT07594379
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a special breathing tube procedure (bronchoscopy) can help clear mucus and improve lung function in patients on ventilators who have collapsed lung areas (atelectasis). About 104 adults will be randomly assigned to either standard care or standard care plus this procedure. The main goal is to see if the procedure reduces the amount of non-working lung tissue after 5 days.
