7-Minute mindfulness may ease pain during spine procedures

NCT ID NCT06471075

First seen Jun 26, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a 7-minute guided mindfulness exercise can help reduce pain and anxiety in adults undergoing kyphoplasty or radiofrequency ablation for spine pain. Half of the 80 participants will do the mindfulness exercise, while the other half will receive standard pain education. The goal is to see if a very brief mental technique can make a real difference in how unpleasant the pain feels.

What this could mean

Active substance
mindfulness exercise
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a quick, drug-free way to reduce pain during medical procedures.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 80 people. The mindfulness session is very short, so it may not be strong enough to make a real difference.
