Tiny lungs, big data: can breathing tests predict when preemies can breathe on their own?

NCT ID NCT07542301

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looks at how hard premature babies (born at 32 weeks or earlier) work to breathe just before and after their breathing tube is removed. Researchers will measure breathing effort for a few minutes each time. They want to see if these measurements can better predict which babies will need the tube put back in, compared to the usual tests. The goal is to improve care for the tiniest patients in the NICU.
