First seen May 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looks at how painkillers and sedatives are given to patients on ECMO, a life support machine for severe heart or lung failure. Researchers will collect data on current sedation use and work with patients, families, and staff to create a better sedation guide. The goal is to reduce side effects like confusion, memory problems, and long hospital stays. About 120 adults in UK intensive care units will take part.
