First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing a device called ScreenCell that counts circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in a blood sample from breast cancer patients. Researchers want to see if changes in CTC numbers over time can help track how the cancer is progressing. The study will include 93 women with early-stage or metastatic breast cancer and follow them for up to 36 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple blood test to track breast cancer progression and guide treatment decisions.
What could go wrong
This is an early observational study, not a treatment trial. The device may not prove reliable enough for routine use.
