New stent grafts aim to fix aortic aneurysms without major surgery

NCT ID NCT01524211

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests two types of branch endografts (Zenith t-Branch and Terumo Arch Branch) to treat aortic aneurysms in the chest and abdomen. The devices are placed inside the aorta to reinforce the weakened vessel wall and keep blood flowing to vital organs. Researchers will track early death and stroke rates in 235 participants to see if these grafts are safe and effective.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

branch endograft device (Zenith t-Branch or Terumo Arch Branch)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a less invasive treatment option for complex aortic aneurysms, potentially reducing complications and recovery time.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with no phase designation, so results are uncertain. Risks include stroke, nerve damage, and device failure.
