What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) device

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a non-drug, brain-based therapy to help people with methamphetamine addiction reduce cravings and improve mental flexibility.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with only 90 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is experimental and may not reduce cravings or improve thinking as hoped.
