Scientists to watch depression treatment rewire the brain in real time

NCT ID NCT07620288

First seen Jun 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will use advanced brain scans (PET and MRI) to see how a week of rapid magnetic brain stimulation (called iTBS) changes brain connections in people with major depression. Twenty adults aged 18-55 will get scans before and after treatment to measure changes in brain cell density and communication. The goal is to understand how this treatment works at a brain level, not to test if it works for depression.
