Could a gut infection trigger food allergies in IBS?
NCT ID NCT06413004
First seen Jun 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study investigates whether a gut infection called Brachyspira causes IBS symptoms by making the immune system overreact to certain foods. Researchers will use advanced imaging to identify which foods trigger reactions in the gut. Participants will eliminate those foods for four weeks, then reintroduce them, while their symptoms are tracked. The goal is to understand whether treating the infection or avoiding trigger foods could help manage IBS.
