First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 169 babies in the NICU with suspected necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a dangerous gut infection. Researchers compared using bowel ultrasound plus abdominal X-ray versus X-ray alone to see which approach helped doctors diagnose faster and get babies back to feeding sooner. The goal was to find out if adding ultrasound improves care without extra risk.
