New hope for amputees: botox may beat standard pain shots for nerve pain

NCT ID NCT07626983

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests if botulinum toxin (like Botox) provides longer-lasting pain relief than a standard numbing injection for people with chronic nerve pain after losing a limb in combat. About 100 adults with confirmed nerve pain will get one of the two injections and be tracked for 24 weeks. The goal is to see which treatment better reduces pain and helps with daily activities like using a prosthetic.
