First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether giving cancer patients and their families a booklet of questions before a palliative care consultation helps them ask more questions or express more concerns. 121 adults with metastatic cancer and limited life expectancy took part. The booklet covered eight topics and was designed to make it easier for patients to ask about their prognosis without pressure.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could give doctors a simple tool to help patients and families get the information they need during palliative care.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed study that only measures how many questions are asked, not whether it improves quality of life or survival. Results may not apply to all settings.
