Blueberry study: your gut bugs may control how you absorb superfood
NCT ID NCT07607158
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how differences in people's gut bacteria affect the way their bodies process nutrients from blueberries. Researchers will give 125 healthy adults a single blueberry drink and measure the levels of blueberry compounds in their blood and urine over time. The goal is to see if the unique mix of gut microbes can predict how well someone absorbs these compounds, which may help explain why some people get more health benefits from berries than others.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help explain why people respond differently to berry nutrients, potentially guiding personalized nutrition advice.
What could go wrong
