Genetic risk report may motivate young adults to lower blood pressure
NCT ID NCT06962488
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving young and middle-aged adults with high blood pressure a personalized genetic risk score helps them lower their blood pressure and adopt healthier habits. 300 participants will either receive standard care or get their genetic risk results along with genetic counseling. Researchers will track changes in blood pressure, diet, exercise, and medication adherence over one year.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
blood pressure polygenic risk score (genetic test result)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that sharing genetic risk information motivates people to adopt healthier habits and better control blood pressure.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage behavioral study with 300 participants. The genetic risk score may not change behavior or blood pressure more than standard care.
