Root canal Patients' bite strength tracked for 4 years

NCT ID NCT07626372

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study follows 70 adults aged 20-60 who need root canal treatment on a premolar or molar. Researchers measure how hard they can bite and how force spreads across teeth before treatment, after root canal, after a crown, and up to 4 years later. They also ask about chewing comfort. The goal is to understand how treated teeth recover and compare them to healthy teeth on the other side.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could help dentists better plan restorations and improve long-term outcomes for root-canal-treated teeth.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not testing a treatment. It only measures changes, so it won't directly improve care. Results may not apply to all patients.
