New combo aims to stall lung Cancer's spread

NCT ID NCT06014827

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This phase II trial tests whether adding two types of precisely targeted radiation (BgRT and SBRT) to the standard drug osimertinib can better control advanced EGFR-positive lung cancer that has started to grow in a few new spots. About 32 adults with this specific type of lung cancer will receive the combination. The goal is to see if the approach keeps more patients on their planned treatment without major side effects.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Osimertinib (a targeted cancer pill) plus biologically guided radiation therapy (BgRT) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)

What this could lead to

If it works, this combination could help control advanced lung cancer that has started to grow in a few new spots, potentially delaying the need for a different treatment.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 32 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Radiation and osimertinib can cause side effects like fatigue, lung inflammation, and skin reactions.
