Can a natural fiber cream soothe painful incontinence rashes?

NCT ID NCT07524439

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding a beta-glucan moisturizing cream to standard skin care helps heal incontinence-associated dermatitis faster and reduces symptoms like pain, itching, and burning. Sixty adults with this skin condition will receive either the cream plus standard care or standard care alone for up to two weeks. Researchers will check skin healing, take photos, and ask about discomfort to see if the cream offers extra relief.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Beta-glucan cream

What this could lead to

If it works, this could provide a simple, gentle cream to speed up healing and ease discomfort for people with incontinence-related skin rashes.

What could go wrong

This is a small early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The cream is added to standard care, so any extra benefit may be modest.
