Phone calls combat loneliness and suicide risk in seniors
NCT ID NCT07204444
Summary
This study tested whether an 8-week program of supportive phone calls could improve mental health for older adults at risk of loneliness and depression. Researchers enrolled 671 adults aged 55+ who were receiving meal services from senior centers. Participants received weekly 'warm calls' from trained helpers to see if this connection reduced feelings of isolation, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
