Huntington's disease biomarker hunt: spinal fluid study seeks clues

NCT ID NCT04012411

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at a protein called BDNF in the spinal fluid and blood of people with Huntington's disease. BDNF helps keep brain cells healthy, and it may be lower in people with Huntington's. Researchers will compare BDNF levels between 135 participants (people with Huntington's and healthy controls) to find markers that could help track the disease or test future treatments. No treatment is given—this is an observational study.
