First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy affect blood sugar control after eating. Researchers will give two drugs—Exendin-(9-39) and atropine—to understand the roles of hormones and nerves. The goal is to learn why some patients develop low blood sugar after surgery. The study involves 200 people, including those with and without post-surgery hypoglycemia, plus healthy volunteers.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could reveal why some people develop low blood sugar after bariatric surgery and point toward better management strategies.
