Baked muffins tested as possible diet ease for EoE patients

NCT ID NCT05606705

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This pilot study tested whether people with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) triggered by milk can safely eat baked milk. Seven participants ate a baked milk muffin daily for six weeks. Researchers measured if this led to fewer eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) in the esophagus and symptom improvement, aiming to find a tolerable threshold for milk in the diet.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

baked milk

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a way for people with milk-triggered eosinophilic esophagitis to safely include baked milk in their diet, potentially easing dietary restrictions.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 7 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. There is a risk that baked milk could still trigger symptoms or inflammation.
