Viruses vs. superbugs: new hope for implant infections?

NCT ID NCT07533292

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026

Summary

This study tests a treatment using viruses that kill bacteria (bacteriophages) for people with hard-to-treat infections around bone implants like artificial joints. About 100 participants will receive the virus therapy, and doctors will check if the infection clears by testing samples over a week. The goal is to see if this approach can safely eliminate the bacteria without needing long-term antibiotics.
