Virus cocktail tested to fight stubborn diabetic foot infections

NCT ID NCT05948592

Summary

This study tested whether a topical treatment containing specially selected viruses (called bacteriophages) could safely help treat infected foot ulcers in people with diabetes. 76 participants with specific bacterial infections in their ulcers applied either the virus solution or a placebo to their wounds three times a week for four weeks. Researchers measured wound healing, infection markers, and safety to see if the virus treatment was more effective than the placebo.
