New spinning tool may beat manual cleaning for kids' tooth infections
NCT ID NCT07472751
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a single rotary file system removes more bacteria from infected baby molars than traditional manual files. Thirty-four children aged 4 to 6 with irreversible pulpitis will have their root canals cleaned using one of the two methods. The main goal is to measure bacterial reduction before and after cleaning, with secondary checks on pain and child behavior.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Rotary file system (AF F One) and manual K-files
What this could lead to
If the rotary file works better, it could make root canal treatment for children faster and more effective at removing bacteria.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 34 children, so results may not apply to everyone. The rotary file might not reduce bacteria more than manual files, and pain or behavior issues could affect outcomes.
