Which antibiotic works best for pneumonia? new study aims to find out

Summary

This study compares two common antibiotics, azithromycin and doxycycline, in adults hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia who are also receiving a beta-lactam antibiotic. The goal is to see which combination helps patients leave the hospital sooner and reduces the need for extra oxygen. About 1,120 participants will be enrolled at Mayo Clinic.
