New imaging technique aims to sharpen prostate cancer radiation

NCT ID NCT07393867

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study is for men with intermediate- or high-risk prostate cancer who will receive hormone therapy and radiation. Researchers want to see if using a special PET scan (PSMA PET) during hormone therapy can help doctors better target remaining cancer with radiation while avoiding healthy tissue. Participants will get standard treatments plus three imaging scans over six months. The goal is to make radiation more precise and reduce side effects in the future.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
PSMA PET/CT imaging and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) with or without bicalutamide
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to more precise radiation treatment for prostate cancer, potentially reducing side effects while maintaining effectiveness.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 23 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The imaging technique may not improve outcomes as hoped.
