Experimental gene therapy targets Hard-to-Treat cancers

NCT ID NCT00923806

First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This early-phase study tested a gene therapy for people with metastatic cancer that makes a protein called CEA. Researchers took white blood cells from each patient, added a new gene to help them attack CEA-positive tumors, and infused the modified cells back after chemotherapy. Only 3 patients enrolled before the study was stopped, so we don't know if it works. The goal was to shrink tumors and check safety.
