Scientists hunt for early Alzheimer's warning signs in brain scans

NCT ID NCT03089827

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study uses a special brain scan to measure amyloid protein buildup in 800 people already enrolled in an Alzheimer's research center. The goal is to understand when amyloid starts accumulating and how fast it builds up, which could reveal a window for early treatment. Participants must be part of the center's research program and cannot have certain medical conditions or metal implants.
