Could a simpler antibiotic be just as good for older pneumonia patients?

Summary
This study tests whether a narrow-spectrum antibiotic (amoxicillin alone) works as well as a broader one (amoxicillin/clavulanate) for pneumonia in people aged 65 and older who are hospitalized but not in intensive care. The goal is to reduce unnecessary use of strong antibiotics, which can cause side effects and lead to drug resistance. About 326 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments, and researchers will check if the simpler option is just as effective at curing the infection by day 30.
