Summary
This study tests whether a simple program—including an education session for oral surgeons, patient instruction sheets, and blister packs of acetaminophen and ibuprofen—can reduce opioid prescriptions to adolescents and young adults after tooth extraction. About 38,000 patients and their surgeons will take part. The goal is to see if these alternatives can safely manage pain while cutting down on opioid use.
