Liver transplant breakthrough? albumin may shield kidneys
NCT ID NCT06535945
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving extra albumin (a protein in the blood) after a liver transplant can prevent acute kidney injury. About 400 adult liver transplant recipients will be split into two groups: one gets albumin to keep levels above 30 g/L for five days, the other only gets it if levels drop very low. The goal is to see if the extra albumin reduces kidney damage by day seven.
